Notable Projects

Notable Projects

The members of Local 27 contributed to the building of the skyline of Rochester, NY and the surrounding areas. Our members played a pivotal role when downtown Rochester was experiencing a construction boom during the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. One of the longest-running and largest projects that kept a lot of our members busy was the construction of the Kodak Park facility. This construction began in the 1930s and ran until the early 1970s.

History with NEIEP

History with NEIEP

Local 27 has a long, rich history working with the National Elevator Industry Education Program (NEIEP). The first Assistant Director of NEIEP was Bill Whitbourne, Local 27’s former Business Representative. Local 27 members contributed to some of the very first curriculum that NEIEP taught. In fact, for decades, the printing company that prints NEIEP manuals has been located in Rochester.
